Preschool/School Age Teacher
Our teachers at The Glen Academy will bring warmth, patience, and understanding to the classroom every day, encouraging children to learn and grow. They will inspire children to be lifelong learners using our S.T.E.A.M Curriculum. We are searching for individuals who showcase their creativity and early learning expertise in the classroom through art, science, interactive and engaging lessons.
Job Type: Full-Time
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- High School Diploma or Equivalent;
- CDA or 4 year degree preferred;
- CPR and First Aid Certification;
- DCF 45 State Mandated Hours;
- Prior teaching or job-related experience;
- Must be physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors and outdoors.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a careful and creative program suitable for children (Based on Age);
- Utilize a variety of educational techniques such as storytelling, educational plays, media, etc. to teach children;
- Observe each child and help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem;
- Track children’s progress and report to parents;
- Collaborate with other educators;
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards;
- Meet course and school-wide student performance goals;
- Others as needed.

Cook
We are looking for a fun engaging person to handle all meal prep and food service for our school. The cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritionally balanced meals for the children.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- High School Diploma or Equivalent;
- Two years restaurant experience (related experience preferred)
- ServSafe Certification;
- Understanding of all current state and local regulations;
- Ability to listen and communication effectively;
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack on a daily basis;
- Prepare nutritionally sound substitutes or alternative foods for children with allergies, as needed.
- Follow approved menus
- Keep kitchen and all work areas clean and free from hazards. (floor, counters, shelves, appliances)
- Maintain and store food at appropriate temperatures and ensure safe use of cooking and serving utensils and kitchen equipment;
- Serve all food at appropriate temperature and in appropriate containers with appropriate serving utensils.
- Keep accurate inventory records. (food and kitchen supply);
- Follow all local regulatory agency requirements for health, safety, and hygiene procedures, including hand washing and food preparation.
- Wash and sanitize dishes and cookware, using sanitizing methods determined by the program and local regulatory agencies.
